MAYUTO CORREA  EPK

The material you are about to read is a summary of the highlights of MAYUTO CORREA’S career. This was specially gathered to be sent to responsible entertainment professionals like you and requires confidentiality, but it should be available to whom you decide to send it to, under the premise of hiring or facilitating business negotiations.

The multifaceted artist participated in thousands of historical events, musical groups, musical records, and film soundtracks. He has been mentioned in several encyclopedias since the sixties – before the internet. His legacy to American music includes: as the top conga player for studio and stage, in the 1970s, he created the varieties of “back beat” patterns for Pop Music, R&B, and Rock, which was established and is used by percussionists, since then. His other mark was establishing conga drums in jazz. His pattern variations are compatible with jazz drumming as opposed to the conga patterns used by other percussionists.

He uses the conga drums as a melodic instrument, blending with harmony. He is also known for speed and flexibility. When he came to America, conga drums were not widely welcomed to jazz. Jazz drummers fearing rhythm incompatibility got concerned when they saw percussionists bringing their congas to the set. They hardly waited until the end of the first tune to compliment Mayuto. That was how Mayuto and his “School of Conga” became an overnight success in America.

Besides playing thousands of percussion instruments Mayuto is an accomplished guitar player, singer, composer, arranger, orchestrator, conductor, producer, lyricist, actor, playwright, screenwriter, director, journalist, and behavior professor. He was called a Renaissance man since he was a teenager. He has been a “hands-on” activist and role model in helping the poor, the retarded, and the unprivileged youth, for which he received a Commendation Letter from Mare Bradley of the City of Los Angeles.

After several years of dedication to relevant causes outside the musical mainstream, the devoted artist, Mayuto Correa, is still, in full force with baggage which includes hundreds of songs, screenplays, books, and recorded Cds ready to be released in the U.S. and Brazil. The performers of his music are amongst the best in the business, including Joe Sample, Harvey Mason, Ernie Watts, Azar Lawrence, George Cables, Milcho Leviev, Oscar Brashear, Chuck Findley, Bob Findley, Raul de Souza, Jim Cleveland, Chuck Rainey, Jerry Peters, Bob Wilson, Octavio Bailly, Among others and master engineers such as Biff Dawes and Fred Venaglia. That includes Hits, "Safe Southern Side" and

"If You Know How To Give Love, Give Me"

Totally “at home” on stage, Mayuto is ready to bring back to light the talent which made him a unique performer, from the time he was represented by top managers in the business, including legendary, manager great, John Levy, who called him the best conga player in the world and featured him as a guest in other major bands in order to raise performance quality in the bands and to keep its energy level high. Mayuto always took it very seriously and, by doing that, he received standing ovations in every venue he performed, including the Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Hollywood Bowl, the Fillmore, the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, the Shrine Auditorium, The L.A. Coliseum, the Apollo Theater and in many festivals, including the Playboy Jazz Festival, the Concord Jazz Festival, the Kool Jazz festival, the Monterrey Jazz Festival, the Newport Jazz Festival, the Jazz At Drew, the Long Beach Jazz Festival, the Mexico Jazz Festival, the Berlin Jazz festival, and Brazil International Festival.

His band is the Gospel version of his talent and his confirmation of his dedication to God. It is part of his tours as a lecturer on Behavior and Concerts in connection or separated from his Jazz concerts performing with his other bands, "Time After Time", "Samba Pack", and "Geniuses 2000." Mayuto’s revolutionary book on behavior is completed which title is not yet to be revealed.

Thank You,
