The Spin-Offs

Based in Seattle WA

We are a 4 piece band playing blues and soul tunes with a rock edge to help you shake off the negative.  The Spin-offs were created from the All-Star Women’s Blues Jam at Spinnaker Bay Brewing in Hillman City. Spinnaker Bay Brewing is now NWPeaks Brewing, and the Jam is no more.

Lea and Dawnzella had so much fun playing together once a month that they decided to form an all-girl band, but some contents shifted and the guitar and bass players left to pursue other projects. Lea looked at Dawnzella and said, “my husband plays guitar”, and Dawnzella said “my husband plays bass”, and they are both man enough to play in an all-girl band!

We play blues, funk, and soul covers with a rock edge. We have our own PA and are available to play bars, taverns, tap rooms, private parties, weddings, and festivals.

Dawnzella Gearhart on vocals: Dawnzella has been singing for as long as she can remember. She sang in high school choir and an audition only choir, "Music Makers", as well as college choir. Dawnzella wrote and performed musical parodies in “Laughingstock Comedy Troupe”, and spent a couple years on stage doing stand-up. She joined the karaoke phase in the 90’s where she met her husband, “Mikey G”. Through the years she sat in with many bands until she helped create her first band “Velvet Hammer” with her husband “Mikey G” playing rhythm guitar. Her subsequent bands were “The Crack of Dawn”, “Jazzabelle”, and “Big Woody and The Clamdiggers”. Her raw, honest vocals found a home in the blues, adding a touch of her rocker soul to each tune.

“Mikey G” Gearhart on bass: Enjoying any type of music has always been one of Mikey’s favorite things in life. His first instrument was a drum set that his parents bought for him at age 9 – what were they thinking? Soon after, he began to learn guitar, begging anyone he could to teach him all about the instrument. Mikey learned to play by ear, but found it was easier to use his fingers. He took guitar instruction classes in high school and was given the opportunity to accompany the choir for a performance. At the turn of the century he was persuaded to switch to bass guitar. He always plays with a passion as if it’s the meaning of life.

Daniel Neumeyer on guitar: Daniel's first instrument was the drums. After discovering Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers in at the age of 10, he started playing guitar and hasn’t looked back. His guitar playing is largely inspired by the huge tonal sounds of artists like David Gilmour, The Edge, and Steven Wilson. Daniel strives to create complex textures through the use of space, sustain, and effects. He attended Gonzaga University and earned a degree in music, and met Lea – his partner in life and music.

Lea Weber on drums: Lea began playing the drums as a teenager and began her professional music career gigging and touring with Ben Rice and The Youth of Blues around the PNW. She met Daniel at Gonzaga University while pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in music. She can play any style of music, but especially enjoys laying down a sick beat for originals in her band Auditorius or driving the groove train in The Spin-offs.
