Diana Quinn and Duo Lunaire
Diana is an accomplished classical guitarist, and her repertoire spans seven centuries, including medieval and renaissance lute and guitar dances, pieces from South America and Spain, flamenco, and modern (20th century) pieces by composers including the great Villa-Lobos.
She is equally comfortable playing an hour-long (or longer) formal concert in a large hall as she is performing her favorite pieces for a small, intimate audience. Also, she doesnt mind staying in the background, quietyly and tastefully performing for your event (wedding reception, store opening, special gathering or restaurant opening/atmosphere). She is able to tailor her performances for your event, your venue and your time frame.
Diana is working on transcribing and envisioning songs Shakespeare used for his plays. Stay tuned.
Diana began studying guitar when she was 5 years old. She studied with Frank Pantaleone in Long Island in the early 60s, and then in Washington, DC with the great Sophocles Papas starting in 1966, when her family moved to the Washington, DC area. Papas, a good friend of classical guitar legend Andres Segovia, is responsible for popularizing classical guitar in the United States. Serious classical guitarists own a large amount of sheet music from Sophocles' publishing company. When Segovia had a concert in Washington, DC (usually DAR Constitution Hall), Sophocles would often take Diana into Segovia's dressing room and have Diana play the piece she was working on. Although she didn't reaize it at the time, THAT was pressure. Diana took lessons up until she went away to college, and resumed when she returned from college. Sophocles allowed Diana to use his studio to teach some of her own students.
