Groovy Judy is one of the best female guitarists and entertainers in Northern California. She performs "Hendrix infused guitar rock mixing Sly Stone funky grooves and Beatles pop with a Chrissie Hynde vocal." A Bay Area native, she’s infused with the sights, sounds and groovy vibes from San Francisco’s 60s and 70s. Her music and guitar style is heavily influenced by Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles and Sly and The Family Stone. Her message and performance is positive, fun, uplifting and family friendly.
For cover performances she blends hits from the 50s to today (Elvis, The Beatles, James Brown, Jimi Hendrix, Sly & The Family Stone, The Rolling Stones, Jefferson Airplane, Doobie Brothers, Steppenwolf, The Pretenders, Sheryl Crow, ZZ Top, CCR, Elvis Costello, Bruno Mars, Daft Punk, Pharell, Santana, etc..) As an independent artist she’s released 2 full length CDs (Groovy Judy, Life) and one EP (A Little Love). Her third release “Love” is out Summer, 2016. She’s featured in Guitar Player Magazine’s article “Now Hear This: Judy Gascoyne.” She’s won numerous ASCAPlus Awards, was a finalist out of 300 bands at The Emergenza Music Festival and her song “Forgive” won best Inspirational Song from West Coast Songwriters. She’s been a featured performer at the 40th & 45th Anniversaries of the Summer of Love Festivals in Monterey and has opened for rock legends Big Brother & The Holding Company and Jefferson Starship. From her own compositions to covering the best in Top 40, classic rock, funk, R&B, blues and Motown, she puts on an electrifying, high-energy and family-friendly show that appeals to all ages.
When she’s not rocking, Groovy Judy teaches music to kids, teens and adults and donates her time, talent and treasure to non-profit organizations. Groovy Judy loves to spread joy, see people smile and help them feel good.
