John got interested in magic at 12 years of age. He got his first magic kit from his older brother. His mom always made sure he had the best birthday parties and she was his best audience member when he performed his first magic tricks.

John Carlson worked as a New York City Police Officer for 20 years. He started as a beat cop in Brooklyn, then worked in the SPECDA/DARE Program teaching school children about the dangers of drugs, and personal safety. He finished his career as an NYPD Officer in the Harbor Patrol shortly after 9/11.

In this picture, John appeared in 'Ripley's Believe it or Not' as a result of a civilian complaint for riding in his patrol car with a dummy on his lap.
