Sister Sister y Los Misters

Based in Houston TX

Grammy nominated Sister Sister delivers a smoldering mass of simpering, passionate, sultry, bluesy, rockin' Tx-Mx-Latin-Soul-With-A-Twist mixed bag of music. Combining a fusion of different genres in their songs they remain true to the identity of the sultry soul of their Texas-Mexican heritage.  Singer-Songwriter/Guitar player Melinda Joyce Hernandez is a former member/vocalist/ recording artist with Little Joe y La Familia as-well-as studio work for Reba McIntyre. Melinda's sister and fellow Singer-Songwriter Patricia Lynn Hernandez also  recorded background vocals for Little Joe and Bob Gallarza. Their sister Nancy Saenz plays Sax and Flute and is a graduate of the TSU school of music. They are the three awesome women who front Sister Sister. Their male counterparts in the band are known as the Misters, who are family members and long-time family friends. Performing with Sister Sister is brother Chuggy Hernandez, who played bass for Joe King Carasco, lead guitar player Sir Cameron Gordon, the Chairman of the University of Texas Math Department and Richard "Rico" Luna whose legacy comes from a line of well-versed Houston musicians. Depending on the show, Sister Sister invites an accordion player that adds another musical color to the mix. Having the opportunity of singing both in English and Spanish, their first CD appropiately titled "A Little Bit of Texas, A Little Bit of Mexico", intertwines a bi-lingual mix of Cumbia, Tejano and Tex-Mex Country which garnished them with one of the very first Grammy nominations in the newly developed Tex-Mex/Tejano Latin Grammy Catagory. Their second CD titled "Latino Rocks!" is another side of their musical talents that offer an infusion of jazzy-latin-rock grooves and highlights their deverse musical talents. Their "spanglish" groove of Tex-Mex Cumbia, Latin-Rock-Jazz, Blues and Mexican love ballads  has become one of the unique musical signatures of the band.

Sister Sister is considered as Legends in Mexico for their Tex-Mex CD "A Little Bit of Texas, A Little Bit of Mexico" and performed 2 tours of Spain at the Pueblos Blancos Music Festival in 2018 and 2019, with another invitation to tour in Spain in 2022.  The band offers a performance that showcases the most popular original songs from each CD as-well-as other original songs not yet recorded. In combination, these songs include,  A Little Bit of Texas, A Little Bit of Mexico, The Hardest Part of Loving you, Jambalaya (Tex-Mex version), Sultry Texas Nights, Loca Passion, Nina, Samba ChaCha, Latino Rocks!, Amore Es/Love is, Dame Mas, Time & Time Again, Canto de Mi Corazon, Te Quiero Much Corazon, Se Acabo, Call it What You Want & Mexican Blues, to name a few. The band performs a few selected cover songs that add to their performance, highlighting their own unique Sister Sister musical signature/style. Those songs are Bamboleo, Volare, All Day Music, Suavecito, Low Rider, Guantanamera, Guajira, Oye Como Va, Light My Fire, Bobby McGee, Mercedes Benz, Blue Bayou, He's About A Mover, These Boots Were Made For Walking.  In essence, Sister Sister y Los Misters offers a show that has a wide array of appeal for an audience.
