Valerie Markell Gallagher

Based in Poulsbo WA
Valerie Markell Gallagher is a gifted vocalist, songwriter and guitarist. With an Indie/folk style that is often laced with symbolic themes, she creates a rich and passionate emotional tapestry through her evocative and powerful velvet voice. The love of music and the music of love has woven itself through the very life of this song-stress who has been singing for most of her life. A Northwest Native, Val makes her home on the Kitsap Peninsula in Washington.

The songs that Valerie sings, whether originals or renditions of other's songs, often bring about a response from the listener which is at once deeply emotional and personally relatable. She speaks to the heart of the matter – and to the hearts of those listening.

Currently, Valerie has one CD completed – Spring Thaw, Live! She is beginning to work on a second CD project, which will primarily include original works. Val performs at a variety of local venues including Tizley's Euro Pub in Poulsbo, The Global Bean Coffee Traders in Silverdale, Kingston Farmers Market, Poulsbo Art Festival, Columbia City Theater in Seattle, Boston Harbor Marina in Olympia, Pegasus Coffee House on Bainbridge Island, and The Mandolin Café in Tacoma, just to name a few. She also plays at private parties, benefits, and weddings.

Recommendation for Valerie Markell Gallagher:

When it came time for the big day, her experience performing live helped avoid any last minute issues. Her professionalism and knowledge was clear and formed the backbone of the entire ceremony.

As the bridal procession began, we could hear the first few notes of our song “The Luckiest” and we knew the rest of the day would be perfect. Our guests were lulled into romance by her voice and the way she expressed the emotion of our commitment through this song. When she sang another piece during the ceremony, everyone was captured by the love that emanated through her voice and guitar.

Hearing these songs today, we immediately thing of the biggest day of our lives and we can still hear Valerie's voice as we picture ourselves making a commitment of life to each other. We recommend her to anyone who wants a romantic and personal ceremony because she is a musician who truly cares about the couple and their vision of their wedding day.”
