Way Out West

Based in Scottsdale AZ

Way Out West has been a very successful country and rock band for many years starting in Scottsdale at Rawhide Western Town and Steakhouse, performing at both locations, first in Scottsdale and then in Chandler Arizona. They are a 4-piece band:  Brant Hopkins plays the guitar, Mike Miller on bass, Jim Torgerson on drums, and Ron Privett plays the fiddle, mandolin, and guitar. Besides being great musicians, all four sing very well.

Way Out West performs a variety of country and rock tunes from different eras. These musicians have been sought after and have performed at many western festivals throughout the southwest, backing a number of well known artists. Mike Miller the bass player performed with the Hitchhiker Band, backing guitar legend Nokie Edwards of The Ventures fame in Japan in 2016.

What is very refreshing about Way Out West is they are also humble musicians. You will see and hear their talents, skills, as well as their confidence, as they play and sing their hearts out. They know the most important people to impress are the client and the audience.

Valerie Saunders, known in country and western circles as Cowgal Val, performs on occasion with Way Out West, singing Patsy Cline tunes and more old standards as well.

Way Out West Band is honky tonk, alt-country, and roots rock with some hippie music thrown in for fun. With their tight harmony and hot licks, Way Out West has turned from the slick Nashville sound and upped the dance factor and rock and roll vibe that has built a solid relationship between tunes, listeners, and the dance floor.

The WOW band consists of Nashville transplants, Valerie Powers (vocals and percussion), and Kelly Powers (vocals, lead guitar, and fiddle). Wayne Pearson, aka, “The Rancher”, plays a mean rhythm guitar and Bob Hamilton is the premier pedal steel guitarist in the tri-county area. Vance Gibbon, on bass, lays down a funky groove to tighten up the rhythm section. Art Dougal on drums keeps it steady and flashy all at the same time.
