Our history

Adrian Ahearn is the Musical/Creative Director of Dylan's Steel Band and Fried Bananas. Bring the fun, relaxing vibes to your party! Adrian is an accomplished singer, steel drummer (tenor, double guitar, and bass pan), guitarist (acoustic and electric) and bassist (upright and electric). He earned the degree Bachelor of Music/Jazz Studies, Bass Performance from San Diego State University in 1996. Upon graduation Adrian married his lovely wife Heather and enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served in the music program at Travis AFB in Fairfield, CA. In his last year while enlisted, he was the Musical Director for his unit, Galaxy. He received the awards Outstanding Bandsman in 1999 and Airman of the Year in 2000. When he returned home to San Diego he played bass for many fine local bands, one of which won the Album of the Year at the San Diego Music Awards and a Grammy Nomination, Modern Blues in 2002.

Mr. Ahearn formed Dylan's Steel Band when his son, Dylan, was 2 years old. "I held him up to the sky and said, I work for you, kid". Dylan's Steel Band has performed up and down the west coast from San Diego to Seattle, from Las Vegas to Phoenix. Our fan base and list of happy clients grows because our goal is to exceed their expectations.

Mr. Ahearn formed Fried Bananas when he was in school at SDSU. The band toured the west coast from the Belly- Up Tavern in San Diego to the Catalyst in Santa Cruz. The FBZ were a favorite at Kirkwood in Tahoe through the '90's!

Adrian……You are such a gentleman.  Thank you so much for following up with me personally regarding your suggestions for fun and entertainment in your beautiful city. Also, you and your Steel Band simply made and guaranteed our Monday evening reception a fabulous event.  We actually showed several videos of you and the band playing on our conference screens throughout the week and they got rousing ovations from the attendees. You are a special ambassador for all things good in San Diego.  I am so glad we met. Most sincerely yours and with best wishes, -HALE

Your band was AMAZING! We heard so many wonderful things [from our clients] about ya’ll too.  It was a magical night. Hopefully we will bring our group back soon.   Ginger
