The International Jazz Project

Based in Coconut Creek FL

International Jazz and The Cold War Jazz Project stands as a multifaceted endeavor, seamlessly blending a multimedia exhibition with a live music performance. Conceived and written by Les Blachut of Poland and Zoltan Grof of Hungary, the project features a captivating program that includes live music performances by the International Jazz Ensemble, comprising Les Blachut, Zoltan Grof, Nestor Zurita, Juan Natividad, Ranses Colon, and Luis Macias. This musical journey is enriched with spoken word narratives by Dr. & Mrs. Joel Steward, fostering a connection with the audience through discussions and Q&A sessions. The exhibition also showcases artwork from the Cold War Era collected in Eastern Europe.

Inaugurated in January 2013 at the Coral Springs Museum of Art, the Cold War Jazz Project received its first breath of life, thanks to a generous grant from the Chautauqua Institution. Over the years, it has graced various venues, from museums and libraries to concert halls, schools, religious institutions, and festivals. This educational and entertaining program not only allows audiences to interact with the musicians but also invites them to dance along to the music. A testament to its impact, the project draws parallels with the musical storytelling depicted in the recent film "Cold War" by Polish director Pawel Pawlikowski.

Within this musical tapestry, Peaceful Jazz emerges as Les Blachut's original music recording project, featuring live performances by the International Jazz Ensemble.

The Tropical Jazz Duo, a captivating performance group led by Les Blachut and Zoltan Grof, occasionally welcomes special guests, offering thoroughly entertaining musical experiences.

Jazz Survivors, a versatile and experienced group under the leadership of u-bass player Bob LaMendola, with Eloy Oliveros on drums, Les Blachut on keys/vibes, and trumpet virtuoso Zoltan Grof, showcases a dynamic range of musical prowess.

The Last Flight Out Big Band, a dynamic 18-piece orchestra led by Carlos Pinera, prominently features Les Blachut as one of its distinguished performers, contributing to the symphonic brilliance of this extraordinary musical collective. Through this intricate musical web, the Cold War Jazz Project continues to resonate, weaving tales of history, culture, and harmony.
