Mountain Brew
Greetings! I'm Andy Burr -- I play acoustic guitar and harmonica and sing; my wife, Sara, plays mandolin and helps sing. We can add other instruments (fiddle, squeezebox, bass, drums) if desired. We usually use pre-recorded bass and drum 'tracks' to keep the rhythm toe-tappin' while giving us the freedom to play melodies on our instruments-- and the ability to keep the budget low.
We can play several different styles of music but our styles fit mainly into two broad categories: Americana and/or Irish.
Americana as we define it includes folk, folk-rock, classic country, old-timey (a precursor to bluegrass), bluegrass, Cajun, and blues. We often describe it as 'Barn Dance Music.' Our repertoire is large enough that we can emphasize any of the styles above. Mix and match!
Our Irish music tends towards traditional and includes both Irish and Irish-American standards, jigs, reels, and ballads, a good mix of instrumentals and sing-along pub favorites. We can do a show or play background music. In country club settings, we'll often play Irish standards the first set or two, then segue into more dance standards for an after dinner set.
Themes we often do: St Pat's (of course), Barn Dance, Barbecue, Pirates, Derby Day, Old West, Low Country Boil, Fish Camp, Swamp Party, and Harvest or Fall Festival.
